Maharaj Ji Teaching Gurbani To Sangat
Importance Of Gurbani In Todays Life
It is agreed by all that we should recite PAATH regularly because it is the instruction from the GURUS. In this, three steps are involved :
- Reciting (listening to) the message.
- Understanding the message.
- Benefiting from the message.
The first two steps are essential for the third. Hence, the beginning has to be made with reading. Obviously, reading alone without understanding and benefiting from the message is not full use.
There are many others examples in life where we end at the first or the second step and we all fail to take the third step as to obtain the full benefit. We know exercise is good for health, but many of us do not do it regularly. Smoking is harmful for our health but some people still continue to smoke, stealing is both immoral and illegal, knowing all this some people still get themselves involvede in stealing.
Our mind knows what is right and what is wrong but still it leads us to do wrong things. We have to guide our mind in the right direction to be in peace.
We should not feel discouraged because we cannot understand the PAATH we recite, or we cannot practice all that we do understand. We must make a start by reciting and then try to move ahead steadily, may be even slowly. Once we know the benefit of practicing the lessons of GURBANI, our mind will start to enjoy the reciting and benefit from it. People who had been reciting JAO JI SAHIB for 50 years or more, they still find something new and fresh in it when their mind is turned to it while reciting, inner GURBANI meanings are only known under that situation.
GURBANI is written in poetic form, its rhythms have many positive effects. They cool our nerves and calm our mind as well as relaxes us. All doctors now agree that we must sit calmly and quietly to meditate on anything to take away our mind fron the worldly tensions. This is essentail to give a daily rest to our overworked and over-heated nervous system. Reciting PAATH or NAAM SIMRAN give us this benefit. It keeps our mind safe from the tensions and the pressures of living the high-tech modern life.
We are like children playing outside away from our mother, God. When it is time to work, mother gives a call to the child to stop playing and finish the school work in time. First the calls are ignored by the children because they love to play (as we love worldly life). Repeated calls of the mother put pressure on the mind of the child to come home and do his school work. Regular sittings for doing PAATH are like these repeated calls from the mother, God, reminding us of our responsibility towards ourselves. In due course of time, the call will touch the heart of the reader and make hime to recite PAATH devotedly and obtain peace.
If one start doing PAATH sincerely(even when one does not understand it fully, and most of us actually do not) he will notice a change in him to the better side. The regular reciting of PAATH provides us the neccessary reasoning and the required strength to keep our mind under control, and keep us safe from all wrong acts. As we all know what is right and what is wrong but we do not have strength to keep check on us. A day will come when it will awaken our soul and make us decide to follow our Guru's and Sant order and recite PAATH regularly.
When you love somebody devotedly, the person is always in your heart, you effortlessly love the person without forgetting him even for a moment. When we know what we read, we will start practicing it, making our own life happy and spreading happiness around us.
In beginning of September 1975, Hazur maharaj ji , who upon then call individually and gave PAATH to recite, JAP JI SAHIB, JAP SAHIB, both SHABAD HAZARE, RAHRAS, KIRTAN SOHILA, CHANDI DI VAR, as of one age, ability and fluency in PUNJABI some were given one PAATH, some got two and some all.
It is like forever that our Living Master always find the best way for his young SANGAT
and keep us away from this KALYUG.
